Karina Nishi Marcus is an abstract artist from Santa Rosa, CA specializing in oil and acrylic on canvas with various textures and surfaces. With a wild passion for color, she follows the gestures of intuition in continuous exploration of space, structure, and atmosphere of the abstracts. For Karina, the canvas is an environment, a door to enter and another world to explore. Karina approaches the canvas with no preconceived concepts, which allow her paintings to spontaneously grow, just as Nature creates. Through her travels to many countries, she has been influenced by a myriad of cultures, traditions, myths, histories of aesthetics and and commonplace mysteries. She is continually nourished by the natal waters of the Pacific Ocean and the coastal redwoods. Karina Nishi Marcus' paintings can be seen on the sets of major motion pictures and TV show including: Mad Men, NCIS, Parenthood, CSI:NY, Monk and Houses. This pasat August Karina also took home the Best of Show Award from the Montgomery Village Art Festival in Santa Rosa, CA.
